Carver Trail Work Party was a great success!!

On Saturday, July 22, 2017 we had a trail work party at Carver. While we didn't get quite the turnout we'd anticipated (only about one third of those who registered actually showed up!), it was definitely a case of quality over quantity! We had a LOT of material delivered to the worksite, and only about 5 hours to get the job done. Volunteers (all Club members) really busted their butts to make it happen. We made a number of repairs to the main trail system, both in the bouldering area and at the base of the cliff. We also spread a bunch of bark around below some of the more popular boulders. Thanks everyone for all the hard work!! We finished off with food and drinks on the patio down at the Stone Cliff Inn. If you missed this trail work party, no problem; we'll do it again! Pictures coming soon!

This past weekend, a group of people lit a fire on top of one of the boulders below the cliff. The individuals then left the area without extinguishing the fire, which spread to the surrounding area. The property owner had to call the fire department to put out the fire.

This type of behavior is of course completely unacceptable and disrespectful to the Rosenbaum family, who have generously allowed us to climb on their property for many years. We don't know if the individuals were CCC members, but we ask all members to be especially vigilant when climbing at Carver. If you see any suspicious behavior, please let us know immediately (via email). If you run into anyone who is not a member, instruct them to leave the property. And please make a concerted effort to follow all the rules and respect the Rosenbaum property!

Thanks for doing your part to preserve access at Carver.

The new system allows climbers to type in their information to create their own unique 'print&sign" waiver. The system also accepts online payments for the membership fee. Climbers will still need to take their printed waiver to one of our partners to get a Carver Membership Card.

Please email: [email protected] with any questions.

Membership Open to new members Apr 2, 2011, 11:16 PM by Michael Lary [ updated Apr 2, 2011, 11:19 PM ] - My apologies for not updating each part of the site and any confusion this may have caused... but to clarify, the landowners have agreed to let the club accept new members. To become a member, please visit our online Membership Management Application. There you can create an account and download a waiver. To complete your membership, you will need to turn in the completed waiver and pay the one-time $8 fee at ClimbMax or the Portland Rock Gym. Only Cash or check payments can be taken.

Remember, it is the responsibility of all club members to police the cliff and surrounding boulders. Let's spread the word, get everyone new waivers and cards, and respect the wishes of the landowners, staff and guests of the Stone Cliff Inn. This is the first and most important step in keeping access open.

Club membership is closed until further notice

posted Sep 6, 2009, 4:30 PM by Michael Lary - On August 10th, Carver Climbing Club officers along with the owner and manager of the Circuit met with the landowner of the Carver Bridge Cliff Area. After discussing a number of the landowners concerns, we agreed to close the club to any new memberships until those issues are addressed. Climbing is still open to all Carver Climbing Club members, but we ask that members take a look at the new set of rules and read the letter from the club President, Dave Schappe: "As you may have already heard, we are at a pivotal moment in the history of Carver climbing. Due the explosion of popularity of climbing at Carver, we find ourselves at a crossroad..."Click here to download the full letter. Keep checking for further updates.
